Duck Hunt Classic Video Game - Game Play

Duck Hunt is a hunting video game where the objective is to shoot moving ducks on the television screen in mid-flight. Played from a first-person perspective, the game requires the NES Zapper light gun, which the player aims and fires at the screen. Each round features ten ducks to shoot. Depending on the selected game mode, one or two ducks appear on the screen, and the player has three shots to hit them before they disappear. Successfully shooting a minimum number of ducks is necessary to advance; failing results in a game over. As the player progresses, targets move faster and the minimum number of ducks increases, ramping up the challenge.

The game awards points for shooting targets, with bonus points for hitting all ten in a round. It also tracks the highest score for each session, resetting upon turning off the game. Duck Hunt offers three game modes: A, B, and C. Modes A and B feature flying ducks in a woodland area, while mode C presents clay pigeons fired into the distance. In Game A, one duck appears at a time, whereas Game B features two ducks simultaneously. Game A allows a second player to control duck movement using a gamepad. The game progresses through rounds, potentially reaching Round 99, after which it loops to Round 0, a kill screen leading to a game over.

Originally a standalone game, Duck Hunt later became a pack-in game, initially paired with "Super Mario Bros." and later with "World Class Track Meet" in a triple game pack. The game's simple yet challenging gameplay, combined with its multiplayer option and variety of modes, has made it a timeless classic beloved by gamers of all ages.
