For almost as long as there has been an ICC Cricket World Cup (since 1975, for those of you playing along), there have been cricket video games, some great, some terrible, a lot of them fairly average. Pixel Criket by Konami released in 1980 was one of the first ones. Konami, a wholly owned subsidiary of Konami Corporation, is a leading global developer, publisher and manufacturer of electronic entertainment. The company has gained fame over the years for their survival horror series Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, NHL Blades of Steel, and NBA In the Zone, as well as the older Ninja Turtles games and Castlevania. Pixel Cricket is one of their lesser known games, it was orginally released in 1980, but the video game wasn't any big success, and soon this was a forgotten game.
