The History of Iconic Excitebike Bike Race Game
Excitebike is a motocross racing video game franchise created by Nintendo. It first appeared as a game for the Famicom in Japan in 1984 and later as a launch title for the NES in 1985. In the bike game, players can race solo or against computer-controlled riders, all competing against a time limit. To qualify for the Excitebike championship race, players must finish the challenge race (preliminary race) in third place or higher. Time targets for first and third place are displayed on the stadium walls and in the lower left corner, respectively. The best time in any race is 8 seconds faster than third place. Excitebike offers three modes of gameplay. In Selection A, players race solo. In Selection B, CPU players join the race, acting as additional obstacles. Colliding with a CPU rider from behind causes the player to fall, while a CPU rider hitting the player's rear wheel also results in a fall. The game's Design Mode allows players to create their own racing tracks by selecting hills and obstacles of various sizes (represented by the letters A-S) and determining the finish line and number of laps (up to nine). Once a track is created, players can race on it in either Selection A or Selection B mode.
